The short version

GoneNotch does not track you. It does not collect analytics. It does not phone home. The only network request GoneNotch ever makes is to check for app updates via Sparkle, and that request only fetches a public XML file from our server. That is it.

Who operates GoneNotch

GoneNotch is built and operated by me (ibnuh), an individual developer. There is no company or corporation behind it. If you have questions, reach out via the Contact page.

Data GoneNotch does not collect

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No crash reports sent to any server
  • No personal information collected
  • No cookies or web tracking
  • No third-party SDKs or trackers embedded in the app

Network requests

GoneNotch makes one type of network request: checking for updates. The Sparkle update framework periodically fetches an XML file (appcast.xml) from our server to see if a new version is available. This request does not include any personal or identifying information.

Local data storage

GoneNotch stores your preference (notch hidden or not) locally using macOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your Mac.

Permissions

GoneNotch does not require any special permissions. It uses public macOS APIs to switch display modes. No Accessibility, Screen Recording, or other sensitive permissions are needed.

Website

This website does not use cookies, analytics, or any tracking scripts. The contact form is powered by Formspree; refer to Formspree's privacy policy for details on how they handle submitted data.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Since GoneNotch collects virtually no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
